You should really watch more TV

and support the adverisers:
"Where have all the couch potatoes gone? The answer could mean hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising revenue for the top six U.S. television networks.
Average total viewership has dropped since the start of the fall season by nearly 1 million compared with last season, and the audience of younger men has fallen off sharply."

It's the programs stupid.

As for myself, I quit smoking, quit McDonalds and all fast food, boycott Wal Mart since last Jan.

i have not watched a commercial TV program since last
March. Sports and weather, thats it for me. Not missing a thing,near as i can tell.

2. TV Snobbery

I've been able to claim that I don't own a TV. Which I don't since the last one went tits up.
What I did was buy a new computer video card with a cable input (I have free cable where I live) and pump TV thru my new 19" monitor.
So I have this little 1" sqaure box TV running, and when something interesting comes on every few years I enlarge it.

Since I'm on the computer a lot . . . . .

Then I get that cool superior thing about 'not owning a disgusting TV' going without lying.
