Help With Gift For Girl
Do eight year old girls (if not tomboys) still like playing with fashion dolls? When do they start to outgrow it? I mean, I liked playing with Barbie well into my pre-teens, but maybe that was just another symptom of my wierdness.

I am visiting family at the end of the month, they have an eight year old daughter and I have a cute little booklet of "Movie Star" paper dolls with all kinds of funky outfits. Cool or babyish?

7. I wasn't a tomboy, but not a girly-girl either...
And I loved model horses. Not too many young girls don't love animals - especially horses. Breyer horses were always a welcome gift when I was in that age bracket :)

10. My daughter just turned eight and was thrilled...
with the Bratz doll she got. But I got her a real CD/mp3 player and new pop CD (Avril Lavigne) and a classic "something she needs to listen to" CD (Springsteen, Born to Run).

She was happy with those too.

And if she's a reader the new Harry Potter book is coming out soon.

12. Nothing beats money.
As a former capitalist piglet, I actually did like getting savings bonds and money to hoard.

Something fun would be a gift certificate or a book preorder. (You can preorder something like Harry Potter and it will go directly to her house.) Or a journal might be nice.
