Here's your chance to publicly thank a DUer who has made a great impact...
on your life.

You can specify how they've made an impact or not. It's up to you. There are so many wonderful DUers here from such diverse backgrounds that, often, we can learn from others, the likes of which we might never encounter in our day-to-day lives.

I'd like to thank Mermaid and Salin for the encouragement they give me, the former in dealing with a family member, the latter in dealing with the frustration of my career choice. I've never met either of them, but I have had wonderful PM exchanges with them.

Now it's your turn. Which DUers have been important in your life?

1. Kick, dammit!
And a big hug to merh, syrinx, trof, and rowdyboy, who are the DUers closest to me, and who are fantastic people. Hope I can meet all of you soon.

2. The Minnesota DUers, of the ones I've met
When I was considering moving here and posted questions about the current state of my home state, they answered both publicly and privately, and when I made the move, they were extremely welcoming. Some of them even got me involved in the Kucinich campaign.

It's always a joy to get together with them. They are the epitome of Minnesota Nice--but with a refreshing edge.

are DUers such a bunch of ungrateful wretches? :-)

26. Aha! And THANK YOU for the times that you did the Democratic...
TV threads. I know you don't have the time to do that now, but I used to always check those threads and watch the movies you recommended. I really miss that thread.

(Not trying to guilt ya about not doing it now, but want you to know how much it was appreciated back then. )

27. The reason was that I moved from Portland to Minneapolis, and
the format of the cable guide in Minneapolis (monthly instead of weekly) made it too time-consuming to find the times of the movies and what channels they were on.

Glad you enjoyed them. :hi:

28. I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated it.
We ought to have a forum on DU for the same purpose--then we all could contribute to it and it wouldn't be such a burden on one person.

:hi:

14. Well, if it weren't for Bouncy Ball, I wouldn't be here at all.
She's the one who told me about DU. And if I weren't here, I wouldn't have had the warm comfort I received earlier this evening when I really needed it.

So, thanks, BB, and to all the wonderful people that make DU what it is.

20. Tinoire, Tellurian and H2O
Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 11:25 PM by merh
Tinoire was the first "elder" to welcome me and my "progressive" ideas.

Tellurian helped me maintain perspective in some heated threads and helped me laugh.

And H2O who was my opponent on several threads, but through it all, he has helped me realize aspects of life I had never considered or had simply overlooked. We have debated and :banghead: but we are now good friends and he is still teaching me.

 They are very special DUers.

But heck, I'm easy, I love just about everyone on DU. I may not like some folks sometimes, but that's life!

:hi: Hi Maddy!

21. Gads, there are so many!
twjmason for humouring me above and beyond the call of duty. He always surprises me and makes me feel good which I really need at this point.

Jimmyjazz who when confronted with an idiot saw a friend instead.

Undergroundpanther with whom I have much in common but who has always been there to answer any question honestly and openly. He's a great guy in so many ways.

Dwickam, who works ceasely to make the GLBT Forum one of the best news sources on DU and whose sense of humour never fails.

And so many many others who have extended the hand of friendship.

Khash.

29. Most recently,VelmaD helped me learn to link to threads
Also ,some kind person taught me how to link my cuckoobananas to the whitehouse.Someone else taught me how to post pictures. Also I got alot of support when I quit smoking 2 months ago. Also I was inspired to speak out in my real life, and that is the biggest gift I have recieved from countless DUer's since joining.I no longer feel there is no one to talk to,no actions to take.Even if I only stop in without posting,I am heartened by what I find here.

I frequently PMd him when I was ultra-depressed, too, or when I was having problems nobody else would take seriously. And I never did find out whether the domed, moving city in my dreams was the same as the Infolded City he dreamed of...

 I still think of Keph whenever I see plush Cthulhus...or Egyptian stuff...
