What's the best video/movie guide out there?

What's the best video/movie guide out there?

I'm not happy with Leonard Maltin's. I want something that has a better index for actors and directors. Any suggestions? I want to buy one for my bartender for Christmas.

1. Halliwell's 2003 video guide, IMO.

It's huge (over 900 pages and extremely comprehensive. Practically every film from silents to today.

3. I second the suggestion for Halliwell's guide

however I have used Maltin's in the past. Whenever Leonard felt that a movie was too "violent", "bleak", off-putting", etc, I thought it would be worth checking out.
Videohound's guide is also quite good.
