Batman Begins 2-- let's cast Young Joker...
Gotta weigh-in for Christian Slater. Who else could do young Jack Nicholson?

2. Explains how this works ...
In the first Batman, we are introduced to the Joker and he dies. Now there's gonna be a "young Joker"? Huh?

George Lucus wormhole?

3. I think we're basically starting over...
With a whole new plotline and everything. After all, in the first Batman, wasn't it the Joker who killed Bruce Wayne's parents and sent him on the road to Batdom?

4. Yes, but he did not become the Joker until many years later.

This is a whole different timeline.

5. Yep, it's a new telling of the tale. It's not Tim Burton's timeline.
Although Batman Begins was, ironicly, much close to the Burton films than the subsequence mediocrity of Batman Forever and the utter attrocity of Batman and Robin (starring an Uma Thurman who should have known better and an Aaaaahhhhnold who couldn't possibly know better). The one thing I do like about this new telling of the tale is that it doesn't share Burton's fascination with murder as revenge. That was the one thing about Burton's Batman I didn't like. Not only because it closed off good characters before their prime, but also because it goes against one of Batman's defining principles. That he is a vigilante, but not an executioner. They covered that in Batman Begins, and this makes me happy.
