Damned sattelite dish is out.
Florida's normal afternoon thunderstorms are hitting. Some pretty good ones too.

It's hard to type with a 130 pound, thunderphobic dog on my lap, but I'll try anyway.

Since I can't watch Democracy Now!, I'll just aggravate you guys. And I guess our 6:30 outdoor DFA meeting is on hold too.

1. I used to live in Sebring....
and I remember those hot, humid summer days when all you can do mid-day is watch TV. The daily afternoon thunderstorms were a definite pain in the ass, especially when they lasted for hours on end.
I used to love to watch thunderstorms in New York, but they were few and far between here. In Florida, I actually got sick of them. There were so many and lasted for hours at a time.
Hang in there, it'll come back, eventually. ;)

By the way, I only lasted two years in Florida. I hated it. Isn't that where you're supposed to go when you're retired? It didn't work for me, I moved back to good old upstate NY where I belong.

2. That is why I have digital cable. I would be
so pissed if I was in the middle of a great show and it just went out!!!

3. We've gotten about 3 inches of rain in 30 minutes!
I just looked at the pool, and it's ready to overflow. Tv's back on, but I can hear more coming.

5. I had cable for years...
but cable didn't support my HDTV and there was no HDTV programming on cable at that time. The satellite was great, except the weather problem. I have digital cable now with some HDTV channels, but satellite is definitely where it's at for TV. ALL their channels are digital, not just some of them. And the user interface is so much better than cable. Only problem is, I'm surrounded by huge trees where I am now, so either I cut down the trees (which I will not do) or go with cable.

6. We have afternoon storms on a daily basis here. I
would hate to have that problem. My friend has Direct TV and she hates it b/c she doesn't get a lot of channels that I get with cable. I know she had more channels than I do! She doesn't get the UPN which she only watches one show on that station, but still!

7. I had directv for a year
After having Dish in Ohio for 6 years. I switched back the day Rupert Murdoch bought DirecTV. Besides, at the time DirecTV didn't carry FSTV. And I've got to have Amy Goodman with my coffee in the morning.
