Who do the "Gumby's" of Monty Python represent in society?
They're funny by themselves, but is there a specific group they bash.

The Gumby character was based on a professor one of the Pythons had at university. I wonder if the Gumbys were meant to represent a "type", like the pepperpots. Hmm.

3. I always thought it was some regional joke.
Like a UK version of rednecks.

But then somebody told me they were supposed to be mentally disabled. That wasn't as funny.
