there's this tree, you see.

About fifteen feet off the back of Rancho Uly stands this enormous water oak (right foreground in the pic). My best guess is that the tree is 75 years old, give or take a few. It would take three adults to encircle the trunk in their arms.

This tree shades more than half the house depending on the time of day. It bombs the yard with dead limbs regularly, no matter the season. A recent one destroyed my grill. I love this tree, I really do.

At the back of the property stands the weeping cherry (just right of center in the middle distance) under which we buried Sonya. Another tree in the runoff area in back of our fence gave way in the rain a couple of weeks ago and fell against this one. I spent three days hacking away at it, finally got it off the cherry tree.

The half pine on the left of the picture? It's still there, waiting to fall.

We're moving in two days, after more than nine years spent under these trees. It's a weird feeling.

1. I'd plant a tree at the new place.
They're a great way to mark time. I've got a silver maple out in the front yard that I hope to one day mark some time with. (I could use some rain though.)

5. I am teaching summer skool
or I should say ESY. The caseload was 27 kids so they assigned 2 of us. But only 12 kids showed up. If my luck holds out, I will have 6 kids all summer. And it's resource, not self-cont.

Hey good luck with the birthmom. Let us know how it goes. How exciting!!

BTW, did you see I posted the new IDEA regs over on the educ board?

6. I was going to apply to teach this summer
but my schedule with Georgia State didn't allow it.

I didn't see regs posting, and I've been very curious. I'll go check.
