I used the "time excuse" thing for a while, but I am so sick of what is going on in this country, I need to find the outlet to make a difference. I have the summer off, and now time is my own for a little bit, so here I am. I totally enjoyed watching OUTFOXED last night. It brought me back to my younger days when I went to see Network and you know what - I AM MAD AS HELL AND I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!! I have been a registered Dem all my life, but it seems so much more important to me now. Thanks for the Welcomes, and Thanks for being here.

If one poster can really show my mom, the ropes, kind of like a newbie's guide to DU, what each forum does, what certain expressions mean, what certain smilies mean, etc.

She really appreciates it all, as she's noted in her post, but she's downstairs helping the sister on her skateboard. She'll be right back, to answer all of your questions and thanks.

But, yeah, a little newbie's guide or FAQ or anything would be great.

Oh, FAQ as not in the DU FAQ. Maybe a few things snagged from there. But more of a -- what's "DSM", what's up with swedish fish, etc. etc. than a "how to post an image?"

My contribution to the F.A.Q.

The Lounge is where we just hang around having fun. Unlike G.D. humour is both allowed and encouraged. We post threads with various pictures (animals being an especial favourite of some), we change the name of somebody else's thread in a quasi-funny manner (a copycat), we discuss alcohol loads and loads (she'll be glad you hang around here now :D ), chat about what music we're playing (current the Art of Fugue by J.S. Bach here - the most diverse selection can be found), and flirt outrageously (until a thread gets locked).

A DUer who posts exclusively or mostly in the Lounge is a Lounge Lizzard (or just a Lizzard).

I forced my mom on a tough hike today ( not really, she wanted to do it, she says) so I suppose he isn't being TOO cruel by merely encouraging you to join us. :hi:

There are so many wonderful people here, and then there are wonderful people who just like to be jerks and don't know how to show their wonderfulness, and then there are just plain jerks.

Some days, a few of us can qualify as all of the above...don't take ANYTHING Personally...Can't wait to get another mom's perspective, so hurry up and post a bunch!
