Into the West
This show makes my heart ache. Every episode makes me cry at some point.

I should quit watching it.

Lots of it reminds me of stuff we have traced back in our family geneology. I realize life was rough back then, but I envy them in some ways.

3. It's a Steven Spielberg mini series on TNT
About the move west of soldiers and pioneers and the clash between the native tribes and the advancing white folks.

The stories of the pioneer travel and the ensueing tragedies remind me of old family stories. The random deaths and lives of people seemed so balanced on chance or karma.

I love the NDN stories although it fills me with sadness. I had a great x 2 grandmother who is listed in the family history only as "a full-blooded Cherokee woman" Not knowing her name has bothered me ever since I found out about her.

5. I'm Irish, and almost all of my history has been lost also.
Sad when things like this happen. I'll have to look for the show on TNT. Thanks for the information, HeeBGBz.

2. i thought for a while i might be the only one...
the native american component is a continual heartache  and hubby has a little knapsack full of familial pioneer stories, still, a noteworthy production for tv imo

4. I think it is fairly portraying both sides
The cultural clash in miscommunication with the native people is enough to make you weep.

pain & suffering spread around for all to see & the pace seems just about right too, i get a little antsy waiting for the next go-round, but it is allot to absorb so maybe their spot-on there with the pacing as well, glad to have an 'in the west' pal hereabouts it's coming on for us now...be see'n-ya :hi:
