I remember this quote from a German film I saw in 1982, but I don't remember the name of the film. Maybe something about a "night inspector" in the title of the film. The line:
"The philistine is always right; he only errs in his suppositions."
Of course this was what the subtitle said, and may bear little relation to what the actor said.
Anybody know the name of the film?. ______________________________
Also, quotes that I have been unable to verify in print. Anybody have a source for any of these (or for anything like them)? Thanks in advance.
"Moral indignation is the only means by which the idiot can be endowed with dignity." - Marshall McLuhan
"I consider existence to be an extreme misfortune." - Eugen Ionesco
"All writing is garbage." - Antonin Artaud
