You forgot about the part when I stripped for everyone and danced around the big pole in the middle of the bar.

Oh, I've been ordered to clarify that he had no insecurities and isn't a pussy.

17. It wasn't bad
I can make it in just over an hour and except for the tolls, the traffic's not bad at all.
The only bad part was I couldn't get nice and drunk like some of those we won't mention. Ahhh, maybe next time.

10. Damn, I used to live in that neighborhood!
On Franklin St., just about 3 blocks away. Used to hang out at the Plough and Stars, where I met my old boyfriend, who wrote a song called "Mass Ave". Now I'm in Joisey, but I miss Cambridge.

14. Are you talking about Willie Alexander?
Is he your old boyfriend? I loved that song--many of his songs, actually.

We were paramours in the Seventies for several years. He's still goin strong, lives up in Gloucester now.

Did you know him at all? See him perform?

21. I've seen him perform a number of times.

Never met him though. I think I have an album or two also. I loved his music, and I thought a lot of his lyrics were a riot. (But it didn't seem like my friends thought of his music as humorous.) Loved Billy Loosigian's guitar playing too.

You were his girlfriend back then--that's cool. I know he's still around because I hear his name every so often. I didn't know he was in Gloucester. Wasn't he living in Somerville for a while in the 90s?

22. I don't know.
I lost touch with him in the 80s, when I moved out of Boston. Touched base with him recently, through the miracle of cyberspace.

He is really such an original-- it's too bad he was never able to make a living with his music.

23. Yes, original is the perfect word to describe him.
Very creative. I remember reading that he was big in France, for some reason. But you know, there are a lot of original, creative musicians who don't "make it"; the homogenized shit is what makes it. I don't know if you were familiar with Rick Berlin when you were in Boston. I've loved his music since the seventies, through many different bands. A whole different kind of music than Willie, but also a very creative, original person. He's also still playing around here, but again, not making a living from music alone.

25. In the 70s, Orchestra Luna, then Luna, then
into the 80s was Berlin Airlift, Rick Berlin - The Movie. A couple of more bands after that, also doing solo cabaret work. He has quite an original sound; it's hard to even describe it.

26. Oh yeah, Orchestra Luna!
I saw them a couple times, I remember I liked them, but have very little recollection of their music.

I was destroying brain cells at a rapid clip during that era. . .
