Creepy Music
What's the creepiest music you've ever heard?

Mine is an arrangement of "Purple Haze" with violins and other classical instruments.

2. Was that the arrangement done by the Kronos Quartet?
I thought it was pretty damn cool.

5. Depends
how you define creepy.

The music I found hardest to listen to in concert, much as I wanted to, was a late string quartet by Arnold Schoenberg.

The music with the most disturbing extra-musical context was probably Muslimgauze-- industrial electronica rooting for Hezbollah.

6. The "United Airline Theme" playing in the O'Hare tunnel.
I thought for a moment someone had slipped me a mickey.

I think it's really called Metropolitan or Commerce...
You know the song I'm talking about.

8. Turkey in the Straw
During the summer, there is an ice cream truck that frequents the neighborhood where I grew up (my parents still live there)that constantly plays "Turkey in the Straw" over and over again to let the kids know he's coming. Unfortunately, the recording has slowed down a bit over the years, so now it sounds "warped".

We used to call it "evil clown music".

9. I once heard an arrangement of Rhapsody In Blue for harmonica
backed by an orchestra. Larry Adler played it. He was good, but...I wouldn't say it was creepy, but it was certainly f*cked up.

I also once heard an arrangement of Maple Leaf Rag for brass band. :scared:

11. Anything by Cannibal Corpse
The music isn't "creepy" per se, because there isn't much to hear or understand, but some of the titles to their songs are downright disgusting.

WOuld you partake of:

1. Fucked with a knife
2. Hammer smashed face
3. Texas Pickaxe Murder
4. Force-Fed Broken Glass

Downright sickening, yet slighly entertaining for some odd reason.

12. "Their Satanic Majesties" by the Stones...
What were they on?

Also most things by the Residents. Some later works by the Holy Modal Rounders--I've only listened to "Indian War Whoop" once.

The Cramps are also creepy--but in a good way!

14. The Teletubbies theme song.
I had a head full of LSD at the time, so that may have had something to do with its creepiness...

15. Fight Club soundtrack m- This is Your Life
this is your life it doesn't get any better than this.
this is your life and it's ending one minute at a time.

you are not a beautiful and unique snowflake.
you are the same decaying organic matter as everything else.
we are all a part of the same compost heap, we are the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
you are not your bank account, you are not the clothes you wear.
you are not the contents of your wallet.
you are not your bowel cancer.
you are not your Grande Latte.
you are not the car you drive.
you are not your fucking khakis.

you have to give up, you have to give up.
you have to realize that someday you will die, until you know that you are useless.

I say let me never be complete.
I say may I never be content.
I say deliver me from Swedish furniture!
I say deliver me from clever art.
I say deliver me from clear skin and perfect teeth.
I say you have to give up.
I say evolve, and let the chips fall where they may.

17. Slayer - Hell Awaits
Started falling asleep when I was a teenage and the intro to that song kicked in after 15 minutes of silence (weird recording). Scared the crap out of me.
