3. Jukes! Congratulations. I'm struggling so badly right now. Day 2 here.
And I'm thinking I should have done this next week. I don't think I can get thru the fun party weekend with all my friends and family in town.

9. Day 2 here as well!
As Mark Twain said, it's easy to quit smoking: I've done it a thousand times. :D

10. I'm really concerned about this weekend.
I'm not sure I can get thru a weekend of friends, family, fun as my first smoke free weekend.

11. Think of it this way:
if you get through this weekend, the deal's sealed. When you start jonesing next Wednesday, you can say to yourself: "If I didn't start smoking last weekend, I sure am not gonna do it now."

20. How about skipping the festivities this weekend so that you're not tempted
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 11:41 AM by radwriter0555
to smoke?

Perhaps to find some alternatives to the usual partying?

OR you could ask them all for HELP in getting through the weekend. I'm SURE they'll support you if you ASK them to!

27. But i have friends and family coming in from out of town to celebrate
the holiday. No way I can tell them "forget it." Some smoke and some don't.

30. Then ask them all, each, quietly, to HELP you with your effort this
weekend.

It's amazing what real friends will do when you ask them for help.

31. Thanks. I'm trying to be strong. Today has been especially rough.
I'm working from home and that isn't helping. Couple that with the fact that I won't drink coffee because it's such a strong trigger and that spells b-r-e-a-k-d-o-w-n.

I've done it before, but never with longterm success - obviously.

Thanks for the hug.

36. I have the same problem
The thing is, caffeine defficiency is the last thing you need. What I do is wait till the coffee cools down and then chug it -- you can also do a caffeine pill.

4. YAY!
Congratulations! It took me years to finally get free, it is wonderful but I have to admit, one smoke and I would be gone forever. Hang in there jukes my friend. You can DO IT!

I have been in and out and have not seen you around since your flare up, missed you buddy.

Just think of the corporate pigs making LOADS of money off of you if you feel the urge to smoke. Pig skinned boots, cowboy hat, JR Ewing types. It kept me strong during the rough times.

23. This book helped me a lot... after years of attempting to quit...
this has been by far the EASIEST time. No nicotine replacement this time, but I am on Wellbutrin as well (which has helped tremendously). Here's the book... I highly recommend reading it (I discovered it in a thread here actually):

The Easy Way to Stop Smoking:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1402718616/qid=1119977887/sr=8-2/ref=pd_csp_2/102-5786185-6530548?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

I read the book, but I also just found this site:

http://www.allencarrseasyway.com/

(And I agree with the poster above that says NEVER take another puff again. Doing that has killed my non-smoking efforts everytime, and I quit for eight years once.)

40. Couple things...
a tsp of baking soda 2 times a day (if you dont have ulcers or stomach problems) lowers the ph of your urine making nicotine elimination slower.. which helps with cravings.

niacinamide- A form of niacin- is almost identical to nicotine in chemical make up... it can help ease with drawls as well as jitters.

Oat extract- They used this for centuries for opium withdrawl and it has been shown very effective in cigarette withdrawl treatment.
