5. Albert Einstein would say...
"I do not believe in the immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern without any superhuman authority behind it."

3. Why Earth Is Called The Insane Asylum Of The Galaxy
http://home.iae.nl/users/lightnet/creator/insaneasylum.htm

The Earth, as being in what may be called the outskirts or outlands of the Galaxy. It is by no means anywhere near the heart of the more advanced civilizations within the galaxy. It is in a very remote area, and many of the entities from various star systems would tend to scatter and take their experiments or their people who do not fit well, experiments that had gone wrong or people who did not fit well in their society; they would take them to these more remote areas such as the Earth.

4. I can never understand....
why it is so important for people on either side of this subject to convince the other that they're right.

No matter what you believe, it's a matter of faith. Faith is a neat thing, it doesn't require proof.

8. Its a foundation issue
The questions about the nature of the universe lie at the very center of many of our soical issues. What is right and wrong? Do we have a purpose? Whats for lunch?

Thus getting the starting point right becomes a vital concern. If there is a god and he has a set of rules that are to be followed and he has the market cornered on defining good and evil then it is probably in our interest to find out what is on his mind. If on the other hand there is no god then we are out here together. In the dark. With nothing but our fellow humans to help us find our way. Stumbling around in the dark claining to have found the light will almost certainly lead to destruction. If there is no god then we need to determine a way of guiding ourselves through this darkness.
