*Pregnancy update* My Max Klinger day- 1/2 family dying 1/2 familypregnant
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 08:51 AM by underpants
We go to an OB/GYN visit yesterday. They forgot to schedule an ultrasound so we had to go back to do that. Everything looked fine, so the tech said. My wife suggested that I go ahead and take off and get her dinner and meet her at home-while getting dinner the phone rings. The Dr. says my wife is to go home, eat dinner, pack a bag and come back to be admitted for two days of bed rest at the hospital. Low amniotic fluid-she is at a 9 it should be a 10 or 12 and with her gestational diabetes it really should be a 13 or 14.

My wife's blood pressure and everything is fine as is the baby's heart rate. Over all everything is fine. The baby is low but there is no dilation-no one has mentioned it but a C-section seems to be a high probability now. It won't be today or tomorrow but it could be Sunday or Monday (Born on the 4th of July). We'll see. I stayed at the hospital until after 10 last night and I went by on the way into work. She is doing fine for the most part. The Doctor already said that my wife won't be going back to work until the baby is born.

While my wife was eating dinner, my mother called to see how the Dr. visit went. My mother, especially of late, can freak up a bit so I had to calm her down before I told her... I asked where she was-SHE was at the hospital--- my brother was being admitted as well. My brother is a recovering alcoholic (18 months sober) who had tongue cancer and was operated on in February. His "Doctor" (more on that later) had taken him off of pain relievers 3 weeks ago my brother has been in brutal agony since having had to leave work (imagine a 3 1/2 star kitchen in this heat PLUS the pain) a couple of times recently. His employers don't pay him sh*t but they have been really good throughout this whole thing. Seems that my brother has some scars from the radiation that are infected. He found them on Sunday and got very upset-SURE he was going to die soon so he stopped eating.

The (actual) Doctor who treated him at the ER was pissed off-WHY THE HELL ISN'T HE ON PAIN MEDICATION??? (so my mother tells me). The "Doctor" who had been treating him decided he didn't need any more pain relief oh and he also had stopped prescribing the blood thinners that were meant to prevent infections. BTW- this is the same "major university medical center" that garnered his wages (I don't know the whole story on that) for the "care" he had received. Let me tell you this the level of care an insured person gets is a different century of treatment than people like my brother gets (THAT is a really long story). My bro is basically knocked out right now and being re hydrated.

Whew! what a day. Our year end is this week so I can't take off but luckily my wife's hospital is between work and home so I saw her this morning (took her CD's and DVD's) and will go back for lunch and after work.

I got to sleep at about 1 this morning. I'm not tired I don't have time for that right now.

6. When is her due date?
I hope everything goes well.. bed rest isnt fun and is a very trying time for both mom & dad. Lots of uncertainties. I know this for a fact.

I was in the hospital for 2 days on bed rest and I couldnt handle it. Did you find out what you are having? Any names yet? Heres to a happy and healthy baby with an easy and fast delivery!

As for your brother, I feel really bad. I cant believe a dr would let him go w/o pain relievers.. Thats just flat out horrible he'd let him suffer. I'm starting to wonder if the whole 'addiction' to pain killers is an issue that docs are starting to face and regardless if the patient is in pain, lawsuits are probably in the back of their minds.

Take it easy, pamper your wife as much as you can :) and give that baby lots of love when s/he comes!

Good luck with your soon-to-be arriving little one, though! Thank goodness everything looks okay for the delivery. Hope your brother is feeling better soon, too! Try to get some rest while you can.
