Fuck all of these people.... I'll keep my check book the way I want to!
I was goaded into using a computer program to balance my check book about three months ago and it has been screwed up ever since.... it seems that other people weren't happy with me writing all the stuff down by hand in an old fashioned ledger book.. but you know what..... votes should be counted by hand and my check book should be balanced by hand.... so there!

1. LOL
my wife has been trying to get me to use a PDA, so I challenge her to races looking up phone numbers--her with her PDA, me with my little ol' dogeared black book.

I dust her every time. :D

3. but your little black book doesn't
wake up and remind you that your brother's anniversary is coming up or that your three bajillion dollar clients birthdays are next week and what you gave them for each of the last five years, and that you need to pick up extra toothpaste and doggie treats on the way home.

I'll take slow with a whole buncha info over dog ears any day.

On checkbooks - I just keep around about enough money in there plus some slush. I am deathly allergic to balancing checkbooks, by whatever means. }(

6. I think I'm jealous
not that being reminded of your third cousin twice removed's tonsilectomy anniversary actually makes you DO anything about it, it does get depressing when you realize that if you did EVERYTHING on your pda, you would have to give up eating, sleeping and bathing, as well as breathing and blinking on weekdays.

12. eating, sleeping, and bathing are all over-rated anyway
They should all be multi-tasked. I like to watch TV while I eat, and be on-line with DU on commercial breaks, have sex in the shower, and solve problems in my sleep.

At my first factory job, the job was to bend these aluminium ribs to fit a certain shape. I spent eight hours doing it and it was very difficult to get it right. That night I dreamed about ribs, and the next day it was much easier to get the right shape. It was like my unconscious mind figured out how to do it while I slept. I also used to study right before going to be, figuring it would help to dream about multi-variable calculus. Sometimes I would have nightmares and wake up screaming "the function is not continous!!!". I still have nightmares about Stokes theorem. :scared:

5. true
eh, she loves it. To each her/his own.

I'll never get one. Forget to charge it up, and all that info is useless.

7. Hear Hear!
And another thing--I'll address my damn envelopes by hand and stick a return address label on it from the sheet that the charity sent me. It's a hell of a lot faster than messing around with trying to print envelopes with MS Word. :toast:

Does the fact that we like to do things by hand make us survivalists?

10. You can keep track of birthdays, etc.
by marking them on your calander or using an internet service:

http://www.memotome.com/login.asp?display=reminder

This service will remind you by e-mail of special days that are coming up.
