Poll question: Would you eat at Schlub's?

Shortbus and I are contemplating a deli/pizza-by-the-slice type restaurant venture...no frills, just good, cheap sandwiches/salads/pizza. We haven't gotten too far into it, just trying out the name "Schlub's". Depending on the results, all credit/shame goes to him for the idea. ;)

...at least to this midwesterner who's never been to NYC.

Find a good location, maybe catering to a big city downtown office worker lunchtime crowd, have a good product, and you'll do well. Wishing you much success.

If you have the extra funds it's worth it but you have to find the right company to conduct the focus group.

Make pictures up or drawings of what your restaurant will look like, what the menu would have on it and how it would look and the concept of what you are going to be doing.

Check the demographics out in the area that you want your restaurant in.

Also, I would check and find out if Schlub means something in Yiddish because I think that it does.

Not you too personally, but as that's what a schlub is, anybody operating a restaurant called Schlub's is declaring themselves to be an idiot, and why would I want to eat there?

Besides, unless you're opening in Cary (Containment Area for Relocated Yankees), there's hardly any advantage in pretending to be New Yorkers.
