What do you think will happen to Kobe?
I really don't know yet if I think he is guilty or not. I am going to wait to hear the facts, and perhaps wait until the accuser goes public. But what do you think will happen to him? He will be tried in Colorado, where his star power may not go as far as it does in Claifornia, unless the trial is moved to Denver (the defense won't want any Nuggetts fans on the jury!). As Geoffry Fieger said tonight on On the Record, Bryant may just be seen as yet another black man accused of committing a crime by a predominantly or all-white jury.

1. sigh
Well, it's been hashed out all over GD and LBN, but here goes:

If he's found not guilty, he'll be just fine. Indeed, adultery may help his "street cred".

If he's found guilty, I honestly think the judge will give him a four year sentence. People right now are sick of professional athletes misbehaving, and Kobe may be the one who's made an example of.

He may also be innocent.

6. Why
are so many conservative talking heads taking Kobe Bryant's side, without any knowledge of relevant facts? Seems like they should remain neutral so as not to taint the jury pool.

7. Although he's black....
I'd say it's because he's also male and rich. KKKonservatives love that, and they hate women.

Frankly, I cannot fucking imagine why a girl would put herself through what this poor girl's going to endure for something that didn't really happen to her. Let's not forget that there's still a _huge_ stigma against women who come out as rape/sexual assault victims and she'll likely be ostracized by most of her family simply for bringing these charges (regardless of whether it's true or not) she'll be marked for life in the public eye as "that bitch who tried to take Kobe Bryant down," and she'll be paying big $$$ to bring a case against a guy who's richer than God.

But never mind what I say--like all women, she's just a greedy little bitch who's after money. :eyes: :grr:

Attitudes like the ones I see here are exactly the reason why I will never, ever tell a soul in real life about something like this that happened to me once (albeit not with a famous person).

9. It's moot
Nothing will happen to him bk celebrities and sports figures aren't disciplined for their antics in this country. I can picture probation happening. But I think it's far more likely he will be found "not guilty."

This is not to say I think he's guilty at all. He may well be innocent but I just don't see him getting anything more than a slap on the wrist.

The real debate is over whether he commited the crime or not. And I'm not informed enough on the evidence or the man himself to make my guess yet.
