"The Sexual Politics of Meat"
Anyone ever read this? It basically linked meat eating with sexism. The writer made some interesting points, but I think she was reaching with this one.

1. I read that years ago
When I was a vegitarian. Did it for 12 years, but now I eat some poultry and pork.

2. Did she say women who eat meat are self-hating?
I've heard that one before, and am curious if it came from that book.

This person also made the same claim in regard to women who are actively heterosexual. Fucking moonbat, IMHO.

4. Don't remember
But the basic premise is that the way men treat women is no different than the way we treat livestock...

8. LOL....well she did make a point that we don't treat animals too well
And some men don't treat women that well either, but the two are not related... :)

9. Yeah, I read it.
It doesn't really link eating meat with sexism. It compares the parallels of objectification of animals and objectification of women.

12. That is a valid point.
I don't agree with the conclusions one is supposed to draw from it, but the human race is not yet free from the slavery mentality, and we have quite a ways to go.

15. Just trust me on this, mmmk?
I have no interest in converting to veganism. No amount of vicious personal attacks (IRL, not on DU) will change my mind on this.

One day, when I feel a little less hurt, I will probably study the propaganda out of scholarly interest.

19. *backing slowly away*
Okay, clearly this is a sensitive subject for you.

To be fair, though, the book really is just feminist-vegetarian critical theory. Not for "conversion" purposes.

I'm sorry, man.

It sounds like an interesting read. I could probably draw parallels to capitalism in much the same vein.

And moonbats are moonbats, if they aren't yowling about this, they are yapping about that.

Peace. :hippie:

17. Haven't heard that one. But I heard it about science.
Physics is sexist because it studies solid objects, and erections are hard. Where as fluid dynamics is understudied, since fluid represents menses.

Can't remember who that was though.

I'm confused. I'm thought this thread was about meat products, but your post has me wondering if it's about fellatio.
