Who else lives with...for lack of a better word..an idiot?
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 11:20 PM by HEyHEY
My roommate toady, who complains she's just the entertainment reporter at her paper cause she wants to do more serious stories, always makes me roll my eyes. SHe's a nice enough girl but....

Today was the worst example. I get home and said, "Fuck what a depressing day." She asks why. I said, "You haven't watched the news?!"
"No... oh you mean the London thing?"

I said, "Yes the London thing, 38 dead 700 wounded, it's awful. You haven't been following it?"

She says, "Why would I watch it, I don't wanna be depressed."

What a callous, stupid fucking answer. God people like that piss me off. How can you go through life with your head buried that far up your own fucking ass. These are people that don't notice anything unless it's effects them directly... then WE are usually supposed to dispense the sympathy like no tomorrow... fucking Pre maDonnas.

No wonder her editor keeps her on the arts beat... useless.

1. I live with myself.
I think I am a big fucking idiot. If I met myself, I would beat the tar out of myself for being such an idiot.

5. That kind of thinking won't get you anything
but an early grave. I probably took 10 years off my life for thinking that way. I'm lucky I'm not dead already I guess.

9. Dude,you shouldn't be doing this to yourself.
Try being positive, only good thoughts. Worry is negative fantasy.

13. Why not? Everyone else does.
I have nothing to look forward to besides having my shortcomings thrown back into my face. I came full circle in life. From being a failure as a young child to having success in high school in college to being a failure at life. Oh, but my family are a bunch of overachievers. So, for me being a miserable failure makes it that much harder to take.

18. Coloradodem...I'm being serious...please see a therapist.
I was going through a lot of self esteem shit a few years back. I was so fucking depressed I could barely function. I finally decided to get help and today I am a totally different person. Self esteem issues creep in now and then, but I can handle it now.

I have been going to a therapist for about three years now and it has been a big help. That, and wellbutrin!

My family isn't a bunch of over achievers, but my parents (especially my father) had a hard time giving us kids praise. He was quick to dish out criticism, however. After awhile, being reminded of your failures with no mention of successes and you start to feel like a piece of shit. It's funny because I was a good student, pretty good athlete, popular...but always felt like I was not good enough. I finally realized through my therapy that it was my father with the problem, not me. I was still the same good person regardless of what he said. I confronted my dad on this and we now have a much better relationship.

There is no use putting yourself through this misery when there is all kinds of help available to you. Please, please get some help.

3. Well, I love him, but...
...Mr. Fricasseed honestly and truly believed that if you get a chinchilla wet, all its fur will fall out. To his credit, though, it took a LOT of Googling and Jeeves-asking to disprove him.

7. I confess that I did not listen to this today.
Once I got the news I did not want to listen. I knew it would be spinned into fear-mongering. We prayed for the people who died and were wounded, but like 9/11 it does no good to listen to it and watch it again and again.

8. Hey I only heard about London late tonight here.
I was driving up to Gettysburg to visit the battlefield early in the morning and I never listen to radio. A nuclear war could be about to happen and I wouldn't know until I saw the balst.

That's not an idiot.
That's a fuckin' asshole!
My five year old saw it on the news and even she was sad. We ordered a pizza for dinner tonight and she asked if we could send it over to London (bear w/ me-she is only five). I asked her why. She said that pizza always makes her happy and she thought they needed something to make them happy since they were crying and sad.

Pretty sad when someone who doesn't understand the situation at all has more compassion than someone who wants to be immersed in serious situations for a living.
