So, how are we all feeling about Lance Armstrong today?
After Stage 7, still in the lead by 0:55 over his teammate George Hincapie.

He's looking as good as he ever has and he has a wonderful squad in support.

Other riders still haven't made their moves (including Armstrong, though he is in yellow), like Ullrich.

Another question...possible seven-time winner. Good or bad for the sport of cycling and why?

2. I'm tending to agree.
He was lapped in the TT again, by Armstrong...has to be disheartening to have that happen in the opening stage.

3. Lance is really strong and determined.
His team is protecting him and he's riding carefully. He'll kick butt when they get to the mountain stages. I can't wait to see him drink champagne while riding his bike to the finish line! :)

My husband and I love watching the OLN coverage. Bob Roll is great at explaining the complexities of the sport to Americans not familiar with bike racing!

4. As long as his team doesn't get used up protecting him, he should win.

Excellence is always good for the sport. It increases the overall level of competition. However, when someone excellent leaves a field, the sport can languish. (See post-Jordan NBA)

Edit - spelling

6. I'm so pissed off! I'm staying in corporate housing right now
at they don't have OLN!!

I've been a staunch follower of Le Tour for about 3 years and I really miss it. Their website only has a highlight clip or two. As I'll be in the corporate housing until Aug 4, I'm going to miss the whole damn thing.

Maybe I'll go to an (ugh) sportsbar this weekend.

I haven't even turned it on to watch this year ... I'm burned-out on Armstrong-mania.

10. Why bad for the sport?
I feel this is exactly what the sport needs. Another Indurain or Merckx

9. Amazing physical facts I heard about Armstrong
His Heart is 1/3 larger than the average person. His resting heartrate is 35 beats per minute, and he has over twice the average lung capacity. Apparently his muscles produce almost no lactic acid allowing him to rcover quickly!!!

12. I don't think Ullrich is going to be the toughest competitor
Vinokourov will be the biggest challenge unless Jan shows some strength in the first big mountain stage.
The Discovery team looks stronger this year than in the past. Popovych is a good addition.

I spaced out this morning and didn't track the race updates.

13. I have to listen to it on Eurosport.com
since I am at work.

But, I agree...Vinokourov is strong this year. Probably a bigger threat than Ullrich

17. For me, who doesn't pay much attention
It's like the Williams sisters or Tiger Woods. I have to make sure the sports section I'm reading is up to date - they're on the front page so much I wonder if I'm reading last years newspaper.

He's giving Discovery Channel their money's worth, for sure.

It'd be too cool to see George win a stage, too. Maybe...

20. Lance is amazing and barring mishaps...
will probably win again. This is great for the sport of cycling. It has introduced about 280 million Americans to the sport.

I TIVO the race each morning and then watch it on triple speed. I can slow it down if someting extrordinary happens. On the flat stages, it usually doesn't.
