Why does Pink Floyd make me cry?
Ok, I don't cry often but every time I watch them from Live 8 I can't stop crying. I Tivo'd the MTV showing yesterday and started watching this morning and a few seconds into Wish You Were Here, I was full on sobbing. WTF? I can't tell if it's sadness, general nostalgia or happiness at seeing them play. sigh...
I'm 46 and saw them play a couple of times in the early 70s and spent a large portion of my teenage years with headphones glued to my head playing Floyd.
I'm going to get some tissues and watch it again. Carry on.

3. Yes, they speak of a sadness
that you don't find expressed very well in our chirpy, Don't Worry, Be Happy culture.

2. What I think is...
That it represents a far better time in your life. I know it does in mine.

I pine for the days when there was some optimism in this country. It's all so dark and bitter right now.

4. Not really better
But a good time for sure. For some reason, if I hear 2 or 3 bars from any song on Wish You Were Here, I'm immediately back in my friends basement stoned out of my mind. Maybe it's the pot I miss.
