Im just a mediocre poster BUT

even though Im not a long time poster, even though I dont have a whole lot to share, even though I am not too eloquent, I still love coming here and sharing, and learning(most of all!) from all fellow DUers who have so very much more to teach me...I don't always feel smart enough or educated enough to express my point of view, but Im an average jane out here, just livin' and learnin'....

I'm just an average joe, too. But I'll throw my two cents in every once in a while. You say you learn from people here. Well I'm betting that you have more to offer than you admit to. You never know when it might be you who shows someone a different perspective and your's is just as good as anyone else's.

I often feel a bit overwhelmed, too, especially when I drop by GD... and, since I'm not in one of the Lounge cliques, I'm a bit lost here sometimes, too.

But, it's a great source of information and entertainment, and I've posted over 7,500 times here now.

I love this place - I learn and share at this place - and it has become a long-term addiction for me (beware! :D )

feeling alienated from those of us who are articulate, especially in an environment like this. Sometimes it seems that some people mistake someone else's sheer verbal pleasure for a "superior attitude". That's so un-necessary, because the people you are judging yourself negatively in comparison to don't think high verbal skills make them any better than anyone else, only different.

That's what happens when you start learning stuff, you find out how little you know.

i am most humbly here, because it isnt the verbiose stuff that impresses me, but truly the ability to grasp so much that is going on that makes me realize how low on the totem pole I am! HOWEVER

I AM on the totem pole, and how else do you learn, except to keep on reading and learning! Just saying its great to learn from so many people.

but I have been spending waaaaay too much time here. DU is actually showing up in my dreams now, earlier this morning I had another of those political dreams, something about the govt reading our thoughts on the computer at this site, electromagnetic waves or something. Then I got something called "DU overload" and threw up, a friend rolled me over on my stomach and said something else. Then I am in a prison that is called *snork* the Democratic Underground Detention Center where I was wearing a white scrub-like outfit with the number DU464889 or something to that effect.

Then I woke up and I was like WTF?

I need a break huh?

Can you astral travel in cyberspace while you are asleep?

Other than my freaky dreams, in RL I find the people here to be more warm and understanding. They are also willing to help you if you have questions and I hope that I will be here for a long time, whether I lose interest in politics or not.

how grateful I am that DU is here. I don't know how I'd have been able to keep relatively sane without it the past few years. I do a lot more reading than I do posting but it helps me keep up with things.

I understand EXACTLY what you are saying. I agree, it is dificult to express yourself ina public forum such as DU. But hey, reading is good too! Outside of the lounge, that's mostly what I do.

there are many and no cliques on DU. yes, i realise that makes no sense, but even so, 'tis true.

DU is a great place for liberals and progressives. the DU lounge... well, this is just a great place. in the lounge you don't have to take everything "with a grain of salt."

there are some ins and outs - totally community created (and in no way backed by admin, as far as i can tell).

so, step up to the plate! surpass mediocrity. 'twould be a welcome change in the lounge :evilgrin:
