19. me too!
the Professor's brother lived in my home town when I was young, and my mom knew him (the brother) through the local theater group ... she got me an autographed picture from the Professor, which I have to this day!

8. Ginger for me, too
Though most seme to go for MaryAnn.....she was definitely nice, too, though.

I guess it was the Marilyn Monroe thing about Ginger that got my (little boy's) collar all hot and steamy....

20. I thought MaryAnn was cute but...
(Read the word "cute" the way George Clinton says, "cool" when talking about David Bowie and the Doobie Brothers in "Chocolate City")

5. Although Mr. Howell had probably the best line in the series...
...something like:

MR. HOWELL: {Offering money to release castaways from headhunters}

PROFESSOR: Mr. Howell, they're a simple people, they don't believe in money.

MR. HOWELL: Atheists!

Well - you had to see it with Jim Backus' delivery.

15. Lot of votes for Maryann. I guess we're supposed to go for the wholesome
farm girl. Not me. I was hot for Ginger. Pure and wholesome is nice enough, but give me glamour! Give me cleavage! Give me that breathy Marilyn Monroe voice! Ginger, all the way, man!

16. An Interesting Observation
The two most popular "Gilligan;s Island" characters (according to our poll) are the two who were not even mentioned in the original theme song - they were simply lumped together as "and the rest".

:-)

17. Yes they were mentioned...
Edited on Wed Jul-23-03 12:25 PM by jchild
after the first couple of years of the series, the theme song was changed to include them.

The ship took ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle,
with Gilligan, the Skipper too,
the Millionaire, and his Wife,
the Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Ann,
here on Gilligan's Isle.

On edit: I reread your post and saw that you said the original theme song...that would be right--but the theme song did change to include them.

:-)

18. I'm a Mary Ann kind of guy...
but Ginger would do in a pinch.

Mrs.Howell....sorry, it wouldn't get dark enough on that island.

Since I don't swing the other way, the guys are out of the question.

BTW....a couple of years ago Dawn Wells did a 'reunion' show, and there were a lot of things mentioned that weren't known before. But for me the best part was seeing that Dawn hadn't seen the ravages of time or gravity. From what I understand, she is just as nice in person, as she was on the screen. :wow:

Another one of my favorites, Donna Douglas from the Beverly Hillbillies............dear Lord, I almost moved to the hills to seek her out. :loveya:

Of course, in a drugged out stupor once, I thought I woke up next to Granny! :scared:

23. I hate Gilligan's Island.
I always thought that if you really wanted to torture someone, lock them in a room and force them to watch hour after hour of Gilligan's Island.
