Interview "Thank you" note question
My wife just had a good interview this morning. She has interviewed at various divisions of this company a few times now and they like her a lot, but have yet to find the right fit for her, and one area liked her a lot, but they had to get the position approved.

But, she thought the two people she met with today were intelligent, very nice and very professional. How would she say that she would enjoy working with them without sounding like too much of a suck-up?

I was thinking something like, "I'm looking forward to getting the opportunity to with professional people like Ian and you at XYZ company." Is that too suck-uppy?

Yeah, it sucks up a tad, but some is to be expected.

Or, if the position has been approved and your wife is "all but hired":

I very much enjoyed our discussion on (insert day), and I look forward to working with colleagues as professional as Ian and you at XYZ company.

6. I wrote thank you notes for every interview I've ever had...
...especially if it is with a position I'm very interested (and even ones I'm not). Those thank you notes will stand you out from others who have interviewed for the job and didn't write one!

You're absolutely right, LynneSin. Little things _do_ make a different. It's worth investing in a few nice, blank cards and envelopes in order to differentiate oneself from equally qualified candidates. :hi:

10. Actually when I bought my resume paper & envelopes...
..they had matching thank you notes available. You definately need to send something professional with your Thank You notes. Buy buying some that match your resume, it helps tie everything in professionally

11. It sounds like she has a good shot
She interviewed for one position, but they seem to like her enough where they may try to get her into another position in the department if that one doesn't work out.

13. A handwritten thank you note will seperate you wife from the rest of the
crowd, it's a classy thing to do. I dont think your wording is sucking at all.

14. You can never be too 'suck-uppy' when it comes to interviews
I just went through this as well. Had a good interview, for a job I REALLY want. In order to get a 2nd interview, I knew I had to impress and really make them know how badly I wanted this job.

I wrote a thank you letter (email) immediately after the interview, and ended it with how much I looked forward to working with them, and how I thought it would be a great opportunity not only for myself, but for the organization as well.

I got the 2nd interview! I fly to Houston in 10 days! Yay!
