Steve Earle! Nooooooooooooo! (truck commercial)
Steve Earle's "The Revolution Starts... Now!" is the new theme song for Chevy's still-ridiculous new American Revolution campaign. I cut Steve some slack since a) there's no way he's ever getting on C&W radio anymore so he has to get heard somehow and b) it's pretty much a laugh on GM since nobody with brain function would think it's a song about trucks. But jeez-- this is almost "London Calling" for Jaguar all over again.

1. wow
say it ain't so! That is wild since he is such an admitted anarchist/communist. Well, maybe he will do some real good with all the money??

2. He is probably doing it for the workers
Bob Seger sold "Like A Rock" to GM's Chevy truck commercials for the same reason... he wanted to help the assembly-line keep their jobs with increased sales, otherwise, he was DEAD SET AGAINST it. I am sure Earle is doing it for them too, with the same stipulation.

4. Not to be an apologist for Earle, but maybe he's doing what
Chumbawumba did.

GM paid the band $100,000 to use "I Get Knocked Down" (I think) in a commercial. Chumbawumba then donated the money to activist organizations critical of GM's labor practices.

9. I meant, I don't want to try to make excuses for Earle,
not that he should (or shouldn't) say he's sorry.

5. I couldn't believe it when
I heard it. My first thought was maybe GM is trying to change to a more liberal(hopefully eviro)friendly company. I'm anxious to here what Steve has to say about it.

8. GM makes the Hummer
I'll believe their committment to the environment about the same time I believe the Chimp's committment to peace.

6. I never heard the commerical yet......
But Steve Earle is way cool.....

Americana Music....

He is heard all over the Web and on the Cable channel that plays music all the time...

Who cares if he isn't sandwhiched between Faith Twain and Kenny Kieth....
