Saved 600 gallons of fuel oil a year today!
Had a electric heat pump installed, I hope it's not a mistake. One thing for sure it will be cleaner, my oil furnace fowled up a couple years ago and caused $8000 damage to the house. Not sure about the electric costs though since it's an older home. Anyone else have one and how do like it?

1. I had one in my condo. Lived there for 12 years.
I really liked it. I found it easy to maintain and I was able to keep the energy costs relatively low. Of course, we're talking a 1000 sf condo here, but still.

3. I have have heard from some people they are a maintenance
problem. I have a 10 year parts and labor warranty on it so I shouldn't have to worry about that for 10 years anyway. I have a small home it's 1120 sf.

2. You're going to be really happy
The previous owners of our house installed a heat pump. When we were initially looking at the house, I had some concerns as it was our first house and I knew next to nothing about them. Well, winter came and our electric bills were very low in comparison to our old home and our summer electric bills (it gets very, very hot and humid where we live) have been under 100 a month for a 2,000 sq. ft home. Last summer we were in a rental duplex and we averaged about 150 bucks a month on electric and kept the house about 5 degrees warmer than we do now.
