I ran across a lawyer joke that I have never heard before
A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a Texas deputy sheriff. He thinks that he is smarter than the deputy because he is sure that he has a better education. He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the deputy's expense...

Deputy says, "License and registration, please."

Lawyer says, "What for?"

Deputy - "You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign."

Lawyer - "I slowed down, and no one was coming."

Deputy - "You still didn't come to a complete stop. License and registration, please."

Lawyer - "What's the difference?"

Deputy - "The difference is, you have to come to a complete stop, that's the law. License and registration, please!"

Lawyer - "If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration and you can give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and no ticket."

Deputy - "Exit your vehicle, sir."

At this point, the deputy takes out his nightstick and starts beating the ever-loving shit out of the lawyer and yells, "DO YOU WANT ME TO STOP OR JUST SLOW DOWN?"

1. That's a modified version of a joke told by
Comedian Tom Dreesan in his stand-up act.

Interesting guy - was part of Frank Sinatra's crowd starting in the 1970s. He's a white guy who grew up in a black neighborhood and gets a lot of his comedy from there. I remember hearing him interviewed on the Dr. Demento show talking about it. He also appeared on one episode of WKRP in Cincinnati - I can't remember exactly as what - but he and Venus bonded because his character worked in an office that was all black, and they talked about how there were both some good looking women in their respective offices, and how they'd like to ask them out, but both were afraid to because of the race issue.

I have too much obscure and worthless knowledge in my head.

2. I remember Tom
At least, I have seen him many times on Carson, Letterman and Leno.

It's great how Sinatra took him under his wing, for whatever reason.

B-)
