Poll question: Do you, in general, have a positive attitude or a negative attitude?
I have a lot of reasons to be negative in life, but overall, I'm more of a positive, open person. I find that when I am, even better things happen. Seems like some people get off on being negative though. If it serves to make positive changes in one's life or to make the world a better place, fine, but mainly it just kind of sucks and makes things worse.

1. It seems appropriate today...
... to quote Robert Oppenheimer: "The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears it is true."

30. I voted "optimist" because I don´t agree to that opinion
This world really is not the best one,
but this world has a capacity for development :
If we all try, this could be the best world one day!

2. Optimist, generally
With a good helping of... well, not exactly pessimism, I suppose. Frustration? thrown in. Like you, I've found that attitude makes a huge difference in how we perceive our lives and how we cope with unexpected things, frustrations, changes, etc.

Hence my "post something that makes you Happy/Smile/etc." threads! :bounce:

8. Life can be interesting at times.
Sometimes I surprise myself. I think though that if people integrate changes into who we are and try to figure out ourselves more, that's the key to understanding and growth. Some things I'm still trying to figure out, but at least I can now. That's a good thing.

I love your Happy/Smile/Etc. threads. A great reminder to feel grateful when all those daily life stressors are bearing down. :)

we have to allow ourselves to feel the pain to get through those down cyclical times and move forward. I hear that. Been there, done that. :)

4. a positive attitude makes life so much more enjoyable
if ya don't believe it just listen to the Grateful Dead's Touch Of Grey

Must be getting early clocks are running late
Faint light of the morning sky looks so phony
Dawn is breaking everywhere light a candle
curse the glare
Draw the curtains I don't care cuz it's alright

I will get by I will get by
I will get by I will survive

I see you've got your fist out say your piece and get out
Yes I get the gist of it but it's alright
Sorry that you feel that way the only there is to say
Every silver lining's got a touch of grey

I will get by I will get by I will get by I will survive

G'morning SarahBelle

12. I'm sort of the only positive person in my extended family.
I've been the sort of perky, emotional white sheep in a family of negative, black sheep. It's a little weird, but I'm grateful. I'm happier person. Sometimes I often wonder if a certain amount of that negative stuff is ultimately organic in nature.

And as long as you don't put any "Princess" faces on my body, I'll forgive you.

I'm fairly thick-skinned. (Finnfan wouldn't wear goofy hats though. He likes his women in goofy hats, but that's another story all together. I'll spare the sordid details on that one. :7)

I have been forgiven, by the gracious and humble SarahBelle, for my manipulation of photography, namely in the incident whereupon I placed my face upon hers, and matcom's face and bicyle helmet upon Finnfans's, heretowhethernowwhich shalt never be done again!

The Council now closes.

This poem seems relevant to the topic.
"One ship sails east, the other west
On the self-same winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sails and not the gales
That determines the way she goes."

31. both...
I have a positive attitude about what I enjoy about life, and a negative attitude about the basic necessities those who are close to me don't have.

Being angry about unaffordable healthcare essentials, less time with our children, and an inability to work as much because of a medical problem allows many to love the few good things in life we have even more.

Life is too short, even shorter due to no medical coverage. Perhaps we can enjoy what we have even more. But life would be so much better for everyone if not for this American social darwinist view too many have "why should I care, it doesn't matter to me if more people die in Iraq, who cares if that person is uninsured, if this worker quits I can always hire another"...
