Poll question: You Decide: Better version of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory
Edited on Mon Jul-18-05 03:56 PM by LynneSin
This isn't Wilder vs. Depp. This is one entire movie vs. the other. For those who have seen both versions of Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" which was the better movie? BTW 2005 was NOT a remake of 1971 - both movies are based on the same book but both have very different intrepetations. From what I have read from IMDB website, many of the folks involved in the 2005 version never watched the 1971 version

1. Personally I liked the first one.
I'm a huge fan of Johnny Depp and of Tim burton but I just didn't think the movie was that great.

5. Roald Dahl's wife said that he didn't like the first movie, and he would
have liked the new one MUCH better. Apparently he didn't agree with the decision to cast Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka

7. Gotta go with the 1971 version
I think I'm in the minority of people who didn't think Charlie and the Chcolate Factory was really that great (Although Depp kicked ass of course)

9. I loved the new one...
The older one I could just never get into. There was just something off...especially after I read the book. Then I saw the new one, and there it was. I looooooooved JD as Willy Wonka, and I even loved the side tracks that weren't in the book. LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT!

13. I like the original 1971 Willy Wonka
the new remake seems like a real sham; how can you get better than the original?
