Somebody stop me.
I'm now bidding on one of these on eBay:

I've never even played one! Even though I am confident that I can learn pretty quickly.

But I didn't check w/ Mrs. V. first and no one has outbid me in two days . . . .

But I still hope I get it! Isn't it cool?!

4. I just hope I don't go looking for flutes.
I've no interest in becoming a one-woman band. Just in hooking up w/ some random bluegrass pickers in a park one day. :headbang:

7. mandolins are cool...
...as far as playing them, they're usually tuned in fifths like a violin (G-D-A-E low to high). so it might take some getting used to if you're a guitar player.

some cool colors you can get out of a mandolin, even in rock/pop.

good luck - hope you get it!

9. I was a violinist in a former life, maybe that'll help.
My biggest concern is getting my fingers on that little fretboard.

14. fretboard
it is small, no question. i've only played a little bit of mandolin (on a jangly pop tune)...took me some getting used to. the tuning part wasn't a big deal since i used to play the viola, but i do have large hands so it was a little tricky. but it's certainly doable, just need a little practice. i don't know how complicated your music is, but i was playing a fairly simple solo, which i practiced for a couple of days.

15. I don't perform anymore, so my music is as complicated as I want it to
be. Or, as complicated as the anxiety level of the cats will allow. ;)

Do I have to wear the velvet dress & lace bustier, though?

13. Nooooo!
No one wants a fair maiden with sweat running off her face & chest and into her cleavage.

Well, maybe the cleavage wouldn't be so bad... if I were the viewer...
