One of the true good guys. A pop-culture legend as far as I'm concerned.

I had the pleasure of shaking hands with Mr. Doohan at a convention. He was such a warm presence, and really seemed to love being among his fans. Not condescending at all, unlike a lot of celebrities.

He will be missed, but never forgotten. Mr. Doohan was part of a television show which broke down so many archaic social boundaries and gave us a glimpse into a more hopeful future.

5. Check it out- he was a real life hero too:
At 19, James escaped the turmoil at home by joining the Canadian army, becoming a lieutenant in artillery. He was among the Canadian forces that landed on Juno Beach on D-Day. "The sea was rough," he recalled. "We were more afraid of drowning than the Germans."
