Aaaarrrggghhh!! Name your household pet peeves
I hate it when it's laundry day and I forgot I had a Kleenex in a jeans pocket.

1. Rubbermaid and other plastics storage.
No matter how well I organize the cabinet, it eventually becomes a plastic container explosion, and I can never find the container I want.

3. The trick here is...
...to settle on just one or two sizes of container and throw all the others out. Then you can always find a container and a lid and you take up a lot less storage space besides. That's the theory, anyway--I always seem to have so many more kinds of containers and mean to throw them out but can't bring myself to do it.

6. But,
the mid-size containers are great for our leftovers

the big containers are good for holding batches of cookie dough, cut melon, and tamales in-process

the small containers are the right size for the yogurt I take to work

the teeny containers are just so cute I haven't the heart to throw them away

2. My boyfriend and his entire family
leave drawers and cupboards open. Consequently, our silverware drawer is always full of crumbs. In fact, "crumb" should be their middle name, as they also leave them in butter and mayonnaise and peanut butter.

4. Shudder - that reminds me of my dad's unpleasant pop drinking habits
He'd drink half a bottle (he died in 1983; we used bottles back then!), then put the bottle back in the refrigerator. Then he'd get it out and take swigs occasionally, and somehow his swigging style made him get crumbs from whatever he'd been eating in the bottle. Yikes and gadzooks!

35. I used to leave the kitchen cabinets open all the time.
Which made my OCD husband nuts. So one day I just took all the cabinet doors off and life is better.

I get up every morning to a sopping wet bathroom from him. Nothing like getting out of bed to go potty and find that there are drips of water dripping on my head, water running down the walls, puddles on the floor, the toilet paper is damp. He takes such a steamy shower, everything is just wet. Some mornings I just let it go. But some days I can't.

8. One more, a new one
Our babysitter makes toast with butter and jam.

She must slather the knife with butter before sticking it into the jam jar, because it has turned our jam jar into a congealed mess.

11. I never get all the garbage out- there's always one more bag that I missed
I can never fit all the dishes in the dishwasher.

There is always one piece of red clothing that didn't get put in with the red laundry.

My biggest peeve:

Where the hell did all these cobwebs come from????

28. oh, I HATE artificial light, but I especially hate overhead lighting
... something about that horrible light right in the middle of the ceiling drives me psycho. Side lights (lamps), alcove lights, etc., are all fine. But overhead lights and I'm immediately a cranky bitch. My husband has finally learned not to come into the kitchen and turn the damn light overhead flourescent crapola lights on. He now turns on either the side lights, or the under-cabinet lights, or both, but never the overhead light. Only time you need bright light in the kitchen is when cooking.

38. I am soooooooo with you.
My wife doesn't understand my aversion to overhead, sterile, fluorescent lighting. It really does make me mad just to be in a room with that sort of direct lighting. And then if I see this lighting during the daytime, it's even worse!

who will not clean the pee that dribbles down the surface of the toilet base when they take a leak. Every damn male roomie I have ever had leaves the toilet looking tiger-striped with old urine. :(

That, and not cleaning up the urine drips on the toilet seat.

Gack.
