1. There were so many...
Among my favorites were the constant over estimations of time
to complete a task.

I think there's a quote somewhere when he fesses up it's a
ruse to make himself look good. ;)

14. The Klingon went on to say it should be hauled off *as* garbage.
That's when the first punch flew.

Scotty didn't admit as much.

8. In the episode of ST:NG
where he asks Geordi how long it's really going to take to finish the repairs. And when Geordi repeats the same amount of time he just told Picard, Scotty incredulously proclaims "What?! How do expect to keep your reputation as a miracle worker?!"

9. I also loved Scotty in the episode
of the original series where he sacrificed a bottle of real Scotch whiskey to drink some alien or other under the table.

20. "Relics"
One of the few TNG stories that still holds up. A sci-fi concept worthy of TOS, his technobabbly lines are kept to a minimum, the TOS episode in-references are a delightful treat, and Doohan is at his dramatic best as Scotty. Awesome stuff.

21. NASA has a term for that
Scottifying the problem. If you know a problem will take 2 weeks or 2 hrs to fix, tell your superiors it'll take 3 - 5 weeks or hours to fix. So if you fix it in two, you're a miracle worker, and if you fix it in 3-5 due to something you didn't plan, you still got the job done on time.

10. His line was, "Fool me once, shame on you"
"Fool me twice, shame on me." Of course, he did not stumble over it, or get it wrong (like some I could name).

12. When he takes out tiny but vital parts to the Excelsiors warp drive
after the captian of said ship insulted the Enterprise. Excelsior tries to chase enterprise, excelsior stalls.

At which point he turns around, hits his head on a support beam and knocks himself out.

It was in one of the movies, but I can't remember which one.

19. Trek V. Doohan HATED that scene and Shatner for dumbing down the crew.
Sulu and Chekov of all people get lost, Scotty hits his head on everything, 78 decks with the silly anti-grav boots, the spiritual precursor to fart jokes (Bones quipping about chili on a Vulcan stomach) and so on...

While there are MANY factors for Trek V being a failure (many budget- or strike-related (industry strikes not trek-movie-related!), and with idiot Paramount execs themselves demanding the humor be there in the first place, the story itself is something of a letdown too. Too big, too bold, with an obvious ending (it ain't God. Whee. Though the part of God being in our hearts just about makes up for it; the 2nd half of the movie is far, far better than the first...)
