"Well, I gues it IS my head we're talking about...."
:eyes:

I got totally up-sold yesterday whilst shopping for a motorcycle helmet.

I had to get my own, because while my girlfriend has two, the one she's been wearing while I've been using the other is quite uncomfortable on her. I can't even get my head in that one, I have no idea how she even gets her melon in it.

Sooo... I'm roughly $150 over budget on brain bucket. Why is it the more expensive thing is the one that fits best?

I'm convinced they put extra padding in the cheaper ones so they cramp yer ears. :D

1. Some things are worth the money.

I just bought a new suit and went over budget, too. The cheaper suits just didn't fit right. Dammit.

I look good in it though. It makes me stand straighter.

2. Did you get the feeling
...they somehow sabotaged the less expensive suits to guide you toward the nicer one?

Because I no longer trust anyone. Even you. I haven't figured it out yet, but I know somehow you're out to get me.

3. Actually that was the first one they showed me.
Then they went to the "2 for $500" suits. Like I'm buying TWO suits. Right.

So, I got out for less than they wanted me to spend. They also showed me many ties and shirts that I declined. So, it could have been worse.

4. Same with me
Here's the Super Mega-Uber Helm 6000... now try on the brown one. :eyes:

I also avoided a $1,200 pair of riding boots, so in one sense I won.

7. Well, they took one look at me, and one at my wakeboard instructor...
...and decided, wrongly, I must have a bunch of money somewhere. :P

5. No sense skimping when it comes to your noggin...
It's the only one you've got. Hopefully. ;)

It is disappointing when the the high-end items are all too often superior. It calls into question the whole notion of smart shopping.

I recently overspent on an amplifier -- I just **had** to get a vintage Fender tweed -- no black vinyl for me. And I paid dearly for that choice. Does it make me play better? It must! :bounce:

Now, my expenditure was pretty frivilous. Keeping your head intact is a very smart thing to do, and being comfortable while doing so is just as wise.

Safe riding, Robb! :toast:

8. Undoubtedly, but still
When it comes to cycles, kayaks, climbing and caving, what you pay for your helmet is literally the value you put on your skull. Is your brain worth $150? I mean, I'm cool with that, but are you?
