Watching the movie "Grand Prix" on Turner Classics right now
one of the greatest racing movies of all time. The old Belgium circuit in the rain ca; 1965 or so....no barriers, just hay bales and driving right past the front door of farmhouses with spectators standing on the edge of the race track.

Too cool.

7. Yup. It's up there. 14,110 ft at the summit.
Me and my coworker got up there about 8:45 this morning. Sa a herd of Bighorn sheep and most of Colorado!!! To think that the drivers in the hillclimb run up that 12 mile, 156 turn course in under 11 minutes is amazing.

9. It's crazy, but understandable....

14. Yeah.
You can only be awed by the exploits of drivers like Nuvolari, driving those circuits in the '30's (with the primitive brake and tire techniology of the day)...

17. That's when F1 was F1
When I was a boy I didn't want to grow up to be a baseball player, I wanted to grow up to be Dan Gurney or Jim Clark.

12. my best lap of the spa circuit was a 3:49:60 in the 1965 honda ra272

of course, it wasn't in the rain! I love that movie! That and Steve McQueen in Le Mans were what really got me into racing as a kid.
