Any one else here interested in Cryptozoology (Study of unknown animals)?

I sure am. I was reading something here about a giant eel and instantly thought to the Water Hound in Ireland.

I really got into Cryptozoology last year with 'Cryptozoology A-Z' and found out that there's far more unknown animals than just Bigfoot and Nessie.

The animals I'm most interested in are again, the Water Hound (A deadly animal from Ireland), Bigbird (A bat-like bird that tried to carry off some kid), and the Giant Anaconda.

Anyone else here know what the heck I'm talking about?

The Gorilla was one such mythical animal until it was "discovered" in the Victorian Era.

Hamsters and Guinea Pigs were at one time super-rare rodents; I think that only one bunch of Guinea Pigs has ever been found in the wild, and all living guinea pigs are their decendants.

I don't believe that Chupacabra, the "Goatsucker" of the Amazon rain forest, is at all extraterrestrial. It's some kind of big predator, if it does exist.

Bigfoot -- or large primates/homonids -- is an interesting sort, and similar reports come from all over the globe. Is this a real critter who is just shy, or is it a powerful and enduring world-wide myth?

Cryptozoology is an interesting field, and it has become more "respectable" lately in spite of the efforts of some of the "skeptics" to tie the whole field to a relatively few mountebanks who have made a few bucks off of fraudulent discoveries. Many "cryptozoonts" are going to turn out to be rather ordinary creatures that have simply defied expert scrutiny for longer than their better-known cousins.

The existence of things like Nessie may be in doubt, but I have complete confidence that there are still things we have yet to discover. I only hope we don't kill them off before we get a chance to discover them!

I really do want to go search for some of these so called mythical creatures and write books about it. I think that it would be great.

I heard a caller from New Mexico on George Noory sometime ago, he was driving and there was a huge blockage in the road ahead but it was too dark to tell.
He said he got closer and it was a fricking bird and its wings were spread and they spanned across the entire highway, with cars stopped on both sides.

That was all i needed.

I poked around the Bigfoot Field Research Organization for awhile and a bigfoot forum, but I've come to the conclusion BFRO may be faking some of its findings. Watching Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science rather intrigued me, but now I'm more skeptic than believer. I'm a skeptic when it comes to most things.
