Sunday, July 20th, 2003 my grandmother passed away.

Sunday, July 20th, 2003 my grandmother passed away.
Hello everyone on DU. I thought I'd let you all know that on Sunday, my grandma, Catherine Gavin passed away at age 82. She was my last surviving grandparent and I will miss her a lot. Thinking about all the stuff she will miss out on in my life is really sad, like graduation and college and everything like that. I have to go down to North Carolina until Tuesday to get some of her stuff together, so thank all of you who took the time to send me a PM- it was very nice to see that some people knew already. Right now I'm not feeling too great so I'm going to log off. Just didn't want everybody wondering where I was.

I also would like to send my condolences to you and your family. I am real sorry. You are not as lucky as I am three of my grandparents are still alive. Expect a pm. On edit I am sorry I didnt know I guess I wasnt here that long on Sunday or Monday.

When my great grandfather passed it was one of the most difficult times in my life. I know how difficult it is to lose someone who is so valued in your life.

My grandmother died in December 1999, right before Xmas, at the age of 89, and I still miss her!

I know what its like to lose your grandparents. Sometimes, they are more special to you than your parents. My grandmother died Nov 20, and I knew I'd never be the same after that. I lived next to her my entire life, and saw her every single day. It was very unexpected too, she was 79, and we were planning her big 80th birthday party. I just remember her being so excited about the party. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her, and I'm almost in tears just writing this. You have my heartfelt sympathy.

Grandparents always play a special part in our lives. They provide the balance between us and our parents. Plus, with us, they get to be kids again.

I lost my last grandparent when I was in college. I still miss all of them.

grandparents are the reason you have parents.
nothing like a good one. my grandma who was
wonderful died young and the other one? Lasted
until 96. Remember her and keep her stories
alive. Then she's never gone.

It's hard to lose a family member, especially a grandparent. I remember when I was little and my grandpa died. It was hard on me, too.

i was fortunate to have my grandmother around for most of my life.
she didn't pass until i was 40...three years ago. i still miss her terribly. my deepest sympathies to you and your family.
