We also use S.O. as well. And by the way, we ARE legally married, but we're raging existential agnostics...we never have and never will use the "M" word. Besides, life partner kinda' says it all.

He's not my husband (I got so used to referring to my ex-husband as my husband that sometimes I accidentally still call him my husband :blush:), significant other sounds cold (to me), partner seems too business-like, and lover (which I joke about in terms of the infamous French accented "luva" version) seems to relate merely to physical intimacies.

He's not a boy (nor am I a girl), but he does have a special boyish charm (and smile and a lot of things) all wrapped into someone who is a wonderful man. :loveya:
