but I reeeeely don't think so. after about 5 posts that didn't show any openmindedness at all; I believe we have a winner. I haven't alerted on him, though; thought I'd see what else he has to say.

question; why would you alert on someone because they are misinformed or disagree with you?

I have seen a lot of that here at DU. From what I have read there so far, the poster doesn't seem to be "disrupting", a low post count doesn't mean automatic freeper. I could be wrong though.

I just have seen people get toasted on here because they didn't agree with the majority. It doesn't look radical to me. Maybe I missed something though.

and it's a pretty typical one... so until he actually posts something progressive, and not RW tripe... then he won't be getting the benefit of the doubt from me... Isn't it strange to you for someone to come in and rack up 16 posts now in an hour and not a one of them anything but combative?

From what I have seen, the poster got attacked right off the bat after posting their opinion on the situation. I guess I am reading the posts differently. If I got attacked by 10 people for one post, I would be a bit combative. I just don't know Karen, the poster can be a freeper, but I just see someone who posted their opinion and got slammed from all sides.

most progressives would think, you are going to get an argument. That's what I saw. Nothing more.

But I also have seen a lot of people get scared off of here within their first few posts because they leaned a little less left than some.
In this case, I have to think of what happened here in the US after 9-11. Everybody, I mean *everybody* was trigger happy. We were all scared shitless after the horrors of that day and a lot of bullshit happened. It was a messed up time and I have to take the time out to think of what the people of London must be going through right now. To sit on the sidelines here in the US and say that the "cops" in London were making an example out of a guy in a jacket is a little arrogant of the original poster.
One person disagrees and everyone jumps on them as a freeper. Maybe he/she is, but all I am saying is that I have seen too many people get too much shit for trying to discuss some confusing issues.
Oh well, maybe I am too naive'.

but his position on the Iraq war (it is still justified in his opinion) is fascinating. Is there anyone else on DU that is still arguing that position?

I posted this thread to see if my supposition was right before I alerted on him; as Archae pointed out I could be being too intolerant. I haven't been here long enough to say that I am good at spotting those who are just trying to cause trouble.

If you aren't sure enough to alert on a member and let the mods look over the full posting history and discuss it in the mod forum, it may not be fair to start a public thread on someone and discuss whether or not they are a troll with others. You don't have to type the name, you all have pinpointed very well who is being discussed.

I know, I know, I am a total party pooper, but this kind of stuff really makes our job harder.
