Bus Driver Sent To Prison For Ignoring Attack
Authorities: Driver Took $10 Bribe

POSTED: 5:25 pm CDT July 23, 2005

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- A former South Carolina school bus driver has been sentenced to five years in prison for taking a $10 bribe to ignore the sexual assault of a girl on her bus.

The driver, Lacey Bolen, pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact.

Prosecutors said two students attacked the 14-year-old girl in January.

They said Bolen could have stopped the assault by using a panic button that would've alerted authorities.

I wouldn't have accepted a million dollars myself, I'd have hit the button.
But to let a teenage girl get raped, this guy deserves far more time.

I would've stopped the students myself, even if they were bigger, stronger I wouldn't care. It's just one of those things that piss me off the most, I hate rapists and could never forgive one. I can find it in my heart to forgive someone who has murdered but never this. :grr: :grr: :grr:

11. OK, I know this will get me in a lot of trouble but...
The term "rape" is usually perceived as intercourse without consent. Technically it is anything that is forcing something that is unwarranted.
I didn't see anywhere in the article that referred to "rape" as it is commonly perceived.
Can I ask why you used the word "rape" and not "sexually assaulted" in your subject?

Rapes involves penetration. So, obviously, just slapping your a$$ wouldn't be rape. Using a foreign object would be.

19. The article that was linked was rather vague, wasn't it?
It just said sexual assault - nothing more specific. It didn't even say what charges the two teens were charged with.

22. Yeah, but do the newspapers not note what the teens are charged with?
Around here they protect the identity of the underaged victim, but they still note what the charges are resulting from the assault.

I think all Johnnie is trying to say is that "sexual assault" is a pretty broad term. The girl may or may not have been raped during the sexual assault- but unfortunately we can't make that jump from the article that was posted.

I do not advocate any type of sexual assault in any manner, but to post a thread just to get a reaction by changing the story is wrong. And I have nothing but respect for Archae, I have always enjoyed his threads, but I just thought this was a bit over the top.
