How many different places have you lived in in your life?
Edited on Sun Jul-24-05 10:38 AM by mvd
Let's see:

I was born in Washington D.C., and went home to Gaithersburg, MD

Then, I lived in Germantown, MD.

Then, I lived in Frederick, MD

When I was 14, I moved to Lansdale, PA.

Then I moved to two other, close-together Montgomery County, PA boroughs.

That makes 6 places.

From all that I learned that sportswear can be used to protect glass and dishes, and when you unpack their isn't newsprint smeared on everything.

3. Over a dozen. My Dad was in the Air Force...
so home is where your stuff's at. I envy people who can point to the "house they grew up in" or run into a former classmate at the mall.

10. Hey fellow G'burger! (Parents still live there)
I'm going to say 7, even though I've moved many, many more times than that. I moved back and forth between the Montgomery County, MD area and the San Diego area during my schooling and lived in each area at least twice.

If you counted every single move (and I counted all the places I lived in Montgomery Co. as the "same place") within metropolitan areas as different places then it'd probably be at least 20 easily.

16. Beginning in Metairie, Louisiana..
I was born in Metairie.

Kenner, LA (a few miles west of New Orleans) --> until I was 17.

Oxford, MS (about 1 hour south of Memphis) --> 4.5 years in college.

Austin, TX --> the post-college years. Been here since December 2000.

I'm ready to return to New Orleans in a few years..

Total, right now: 3 places. I dunno if the move back would count as another place, or if it'd still fall under the general "New Orleans" category.

20. Too damn many
Lemme see, here..... In no particular order: Florida (7 separate places), Virginia (5 separate places), Georgia (6), Nebraska (1), Colorado (2), Texas (2), Indiana (2), Pennsylvania (1), Illinois (1), Oklahoma (1), and Alabama (2). So far. I figure a moving target is harder to hit. Also, it's easier to sell/give away my collected stuff than it is to cart it around with me everywhere I go (the rough rule of thumb is: Four moves = One house fire).
