As of today, I have been employed exactly one year

At least in this job, anyway. I spent eight months previously as an outcast ... an out-of-work IT professional in Silicon Valley. After riding the IT wave there for the previous 16 years, my interlude was a humbling experience, forcing me eventually to pull up roots and move to Eugene, OR.

To those of you still looking ... hang in there!

I'd love to move to Eugene. One of my best friends in the world lives in Springfield.

5. Every morning when I get in the elevator I say a little prayer

I mean, I'm hard working and a valuable asset to our department. But you never know when the men in the blue jackets will be standing in your cubicle with the boxes for your stuff.

Of course I'm not a selfish Christian, I actually pray that they aren't standing in anyone's cube.
