a request to keep the Lounge the Lounge

not looking for flames but i have noticed the last few days that there are quite a few "fairly serious" posts that are cropping up in the Lounge that would certainly be better served in GD or one of the other "specific subject" threads.

not a real big deal but they tend to push the "important Lounge" topics such as Thong racing, Yak Dung Tossing and Porn Star Diaries off the page.

just a friendly reminder to keep the Lounge the Lounge.

Two reasons:

There is a different mix of people in the lounge, and GD often moves so quickly, it gets very little play.

I've posted topics to GD that sank like a stone, yet when I posted the same here, ended up with lively 50+ response debates.

Nothing. If it was called The Pub it would make sense too. I think it has more to do with "no constraints" on the topics than everything having to be either trivial or a joke.

8. Serious discussions about non political topics belong in the lounge

(IMHO). Serious political discussions (and light-hearted ones, too) belong in GD.
