Hey Ray, Hey Sugar, tell 'em who we are. . .
Well, we're big rock singers
We got golden fingers
And we're loved everywhere we go (That sounds like us)
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth
At ten thousand dollars a show (Right)
We take all kinda pills to give us all kinda thrills
But the thrill we've never known

Is the thrill that'll gitcha when you git your picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone
(Rollin' Stone) Wanna see my picture on the cover
(Stone) Wanna buy five copies for my mother (Yeah!)
(Stone) Wanna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone (That's a very, very good idea)

I got a freaky old lady named a Cocaine Katy
Who embroideries on my jeans
I got my poor old grey haired daddy
Drivin' my limousine
Now it's all designed to blow our minds
But our minds won't really be blown
Like the blow that'll gitcha when you get your picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone

(Rollin' Stone) Wanna see our pictures on the cover
(Stone) Wanna buy five copies for our mothers (Yeah!)
(Stone) Wanna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone

Hey, I know how...

ROCK AND ROLL!

Oh, that's beautiful

We got a lot of little teenaged blue eyed groupies
Who'll do anything we say
We got a genuine Indian guru
He's teaching us a better way
We got all the friends that money can buy
So we never have to be alone
And we keep gettin' richer but we can't get our picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone

(Rollin' Stone) Wanna see my picture on the cover
(Stone) Wanna buy five copies for my mother (I want one!)
(Stone) Wanna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone
On the cover of the Rollin'

(Stone) Wanna see my picture on the cover (talking) I don't know why we ain't on the cover, baby...
(Stone) Wanna buy five copies for my mother (talking) We're beautiful fellas...
(Stone) Wanna see my smilin' face (talking) I ain't kiddin' ya, we would make a beautiful cover... On the cover of the Rollin' Stone... Fresh shot, right up front, man... I can see it now, we'll be up in the front... Smilin', man... Ohhh, beautiful.

1. Dr. John?
I remember the song, can't really remember if I have the band right. That was just about the time I started my "Wild Child" years. The ol' memory is fuzzy through the haze of all that pot smoke back then! LOL

7. I have a weird story about Silverstein.
I'm not a huge fan, but I read his poems to my son when he was little & always liked The Unicorn Song. But then one night I had this dream where he came to talk to me. I got up that morning and as I drove to church I heard on NPR Weekend Edition that Silverstein had died the night before!

OK, that was weird enough, but during the service, the minister read one of his poems and wove it into the sermon--in fact, it was pretty much the topic she preached on that morning. I thought it was because he had died, but when I asked he about it after the service, she had not heard he had died.

So Shel Silverstein seemed to specifically target me to say hello/goodbye when he checked out of this plane. Weird, huh?
