2. As long as Beck continues to make good music...
It doesnt matter!

Unless he turns into Tom Cruise!

9. This is relevent to me...
for, at minimum, it changes the meanings of the words and of the songs. Plus money I spend is going to support a dangerous and aggressive cult. I'm depressed about it.

12. I meant no offense......
Its just that I don't like to dog-pile upon folks because of their religious beliefs, especially if they're not harming anybody else. Yeah, its disappointing that Beck is a devotee of what I would also think of as a kooky faith, but its his body, soul, mind and ultimately his $$.

BTW, I an a HUGE Beck fan, so hats of to ya! :hi:

8. The question is
Will Beck rise to the same level of mockery as Tom Cruise?

Something tells me, no.

11. Yea, I saw this mentioned a few months ago and I'm totally bummed
He seems much too smart to be a Scientologist.

It also explains some odd things I heard about Beck's cousin back in the early 90's. A friend of mine met him while he was living in the basement of a Kansas City, MO church. He said he had painted the floor with a giant graphic representation of the universe with all kinds of nonsense math depicted. At the time I assumed he was just whacked out on acid or something, but maybe it was the religion.

14. He has been for a while. My theory is that it was due to a devastating
break up. (you thought I was going to say head injury, didn't you. for shame!)

My only hope is that he'll snap out of it. He still makes good records, so what can you do.

15. One thing you have to remember about the celebrity $cientologists..
Edited on Fri Jul-29-05 07:33 PM by William Bloode
They do not receive the same instruction, nor are allowed to assume the higher levels(the ones that reveal Xemu), even yet celebrities do not have to pay for each level. Hence they are more or less resigned to the lower levels which never go into all the crazy explanations of Xemu and body thetans. What the celebs are used for is their promotional value. They figured out long ago that working with celebs and giving them preferred treatment to promote their religion/cult/crap was a gold mine.

I find no fault in the ideology of $cientology. I feel believing in Xemu and body thetans is no crazier than believing in some distant god, along with angels, satan, hell, etc. I just have a problem with their predatory practices via money and family for regular non celebrity members. Did any of you know that to reach the upper levels of training it will cost you over $400,000?

A lot of interesting Scientology info can be found here at Xemu.net. Ha ha interesting to say the least, it is a bit one sided but you do get the straight dope from former members and activists working against them.

17. No problem.
I found the info at Xemu.net (or Operation Clam Bake)to be disturbing. I also feel that if more people had access to this info there would be very few $cientologists. The C.O.$. hates this site and has actively worked to have it removed.

The juiciest part i found was where they totally debunked L. Ron Hubbard. A true hack writer, but i have to admit he pulled off a good one.

Theres a sucker born every minute
