We've got a Holiday in Alberta that's basically just that; a holiday. It doesn't really mean anything other than it's a three-day weekend; my wife tried explaning it to me but I still couldn't figure it out. Not that I was complaining about it, mind you...

14. The 27th is an optional holiday for us state employees here in TX.
It's LBJ's birthday. :shrug: But, since the 27th is a Saturday, we lose the holiday.

Optional holidays mean you either get the day off with pay, or work the day and earn 8 hours of additional leave. The office must be open though.

16. Damn I wish I were there...
I was in Vancouver staying at UBC back in May 1975, don't remember much about the city except it seemed the clouds were so low I could jump up and touch them.
