Haven't smoked any tobacco in 8 days!
Maybe this time I can make it stick. Anyone else not smoking? How're you doin'?

3. Hang in there, you can do it.
I do the "Time is an illusion" thing. Since the is no time but the moment I am always not smoking "right now". Good luck.

2. Over 4 years for cigarrettes
I do have the occasional pipe or cigar-works out to less than once a month. Last one I had was July 4, and that was in part to help light fireworks.

I chewed the nicotine gum for 2 months (couldn't have done it cold). Now, I'm completely nic-free.

The first two weeks were the toughest.

Now I can even stand outside with friends during their smoke break and not want one. The smell even sickens me a little. (Never thought I'd get from 2 packs a day to here.)

Hang in there, it gets easier with each day.

I managed 11 months a couple years ago and noticed after a while that I wasn't thinking about cigarettes. The intervals just got longer. I have emphysema which sucks big time. If you can get out of it before that happens you've got it made.

WTG. If you can make it 8 days, you can make it. Not that you can ever let your guard down...but it does get easier.

I'll make 7 years in October.

(I had a month relapse after 9/11/01--but I'm not starting over on my time because it was 9/11, damnit.)

Keep it up. You'll always have something you can be proud of yourself for.
