SOLARIS comes out one week from today!!!

LOVE this movie, even (or especially) though John Q. Public hated it. Really makes you understand the subjective nature of the way we see people -- I can see one George W. Bush or Kobe Bryant or Bill O'Reilly and someone else can see the same people completely differently.

Neither interpretation is THE truth...but some people strive to get closer to it, no matter how painful -- while others can ignore truth to avoid the pain. I wish I was one of those people sometimes.

1. Personally, I loved it.
I know people walked out because there weren't any explosions. Their loss, I guess.

3. My one complaint
If I have to see George Clooney's ass that much, the least they could've done was show Natascha McElhone's.

2. It was George Clooney's acting
He's a very limited actor you know, no way of getting around that.

4. True, he's never been the greatest actor...
...but you gotta admit, the guy's got charisma to burn and the camera loves him. He's already likeable, so there's no need to waste film time making him so...which is important, because while the movie's only an hour & a half long, it's paced to feel like two.

5. I loved it

it is one of my favorite books. My only beef with the movie was that it was about an hour too short. An chance of an extended edition or director's cut?

As much as I liked this movie, I knew that it wasn't going to be big with the public. The only way Soderberg got it made was by doing the studios so many blockbuster favors.

6. Not that I've heard of
But Soderbergh and James Cameron (the producer) do the commentary and reportedly talk about how different the movie would've been if Cameron had directed it. Can't wait to hear that!

7. Loved this movie...both versions
They each brought something to the table for a book that, although a marvel and a classic, is just about unfilmable.

And I thought Clooney did a good job, damn it. I thought everyone was good in this movie.

I find that if you've ever loved and lost someone, you're going to connect with this film a lot a whole lot more than someone who never has.
